The 'Low Down 32 ✨
Heated Rivalry Look-Alikes, Rasputin Rituals, Boopable Snoots
Hey friends,
January and February bring a mix of fancy, offbeat, and surprisingly wholesome plans. One week you’re browsing antiques at the Armory, the next you’re diving into experimental theatre across the city. Between dumpling workshops, clay club, a one-day choir, and a Rasputin-inspired immersive sauna ritual, the weeks ahead are proof that winter can still be fun if you let it 😉
🏺 The Winter Show

“The Winter Show is America’s leading art, antiques, and design fair, held annually at the Park Avenue Armory and showcases works spanning 5,000 years. Over 70 internationally renowned dealers present fine and decorative arts, from paintings and furniture to jewelry and contemporary ceramics.”
🏒 Heated Rivalry Look Alike Contest

“In a time when online dating prospects seem more dismal than ever, we have been forced to take extreme measures. We will be hosting yet ANOTHER look-alike competition to find the best nyc local knockoff Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov to give the girls, the gays, and theys something to yearn for in 2026. We see no better place to kickoff this year’s look alike contest season—and pay homage to inarguably the best hockey player power couple of all time—than the birthplace of the tradition itself…our very own Washington Square Park. So prep those accents and get ready to pucker up…and please congregate around the fountain no later than 2 pm. Thank you, and long live Hollanov 🇨🇦🇷🇺🫡”
🎭 Under the Radar Festival
Now through January 25 | Venues across the city
“Under the Radar isn’t a festival you casually wander into. With 31 shows spread across 24 venues in four boroughs, the 2026 edition is a cultural sprawl that can feel both thrilling and mildly panic-inducing, depending on how much planning you do before opening night. Under the Radar once again brings together experimental theater, performance art and genre-defying work from New York and around the world. Some shows are polished premieres, while others are labeled “Under Construction,” meaning you’re seeing works in progress. The point here isn’t perfection, meaning if you leave a show slightly confused but oddly energized, you’ve probably picked well.”

January 26 | Othership Williamsburg (25 Kent Ave)
“Step into sauna heat and story as Rasputin returns in an immersive experience where theatre meets the nervous system, brought to life by Artemis Is Burning. Set in 1916 Imperial Russia and unfolding inside Othership’s steam-filled sanctuary, you’ll move through heat and cold immersion, following characters from palace elites to mystics and revolutionaries. Part performance, part ritual, this is a state-shifting journey of devotion, influence, and surrender, where you’re invited not just to watch, but to feel and experience.”

Told through their parallel life stories, it follows two girls growing up in very different parts of the world, each learning what inequality looks like, and what it takes to challenge it. What emerges is not a manifesto, but a lived understanding of feminism as something learned through example, sustained through relationships, and strengthened by collective action. This evening is designed for adults: parents, grandparents, educators, and anyone thinking seriously about how values are shaped and passed on. Steinem and Gbowee reflect on how movements are built, and how lessons are translated for the next generation.”
